I’ve always carried a knife since I was a kid growing up in Texas and playing in the woods. I used to think a $50 knife was expensive until a friend of mine turned me onto more premium quality knives and then the collecting hobby began. I sent out a couple knives to modders soon after I started into the knife hobby and quickly realized I could do this myself. I have an art and design background and a good eye for it so I figured I’d give modding a try. After doing a few of my own, friends started asking me if I’d mod their knives. Once I did theirs and they started showing them off, I started getting requests from other people and so it began. In 2017 I started actually doing knife modding as a side job on the weekends and evenings. In 2020 I lost my job due to covid cutbacks so I decided it was time to see if I could turn my hobby into a full time business that could support me and my family and so Gecko Customz Knifeworks became a reality. I do full knife makeovers as well as chop mods. I’m probably most known for my custom mini smocks. In 2022 I did a collab with Kizer knives and we produced the Towser S. This past year I was able to do an exclusive with Something Obscene co with the V4 J-Cape. I have more plans for collabs and exclusives with other knife companies in the works and I’m also working on releasing my very own custom mid tech knife hopefully in 2024.
